We made it through our first week of First Grade, and boy were we busy! We learned so much last week about what it means to be in the First grade and spent a lot of time getting to know each other better. To celebrate the end of a great first day of the year we made a batch of "Jitter Juice" to go along with reading the book
First Day Jitters and help get rid of any "jitters" we might have about the new school year. This week we have also started reviewing and learning about plane shapes (squares, circles, trapezoids, rectangles, and triangles). We are learning to recognize all of these shapes by their attributes (how many edges and how many vertices) and learn ways we can make them (example: 2 squares can make a rectangle and 2 triangles can make a sqaure).
In writing we have been taking time each day to review proper handwriting and talk about what it means to be a writer, things people can write, and learning about parts of a good sentence.
