~We reviewed our s blends by making an s blend scarecrow.
~We earned the golden spatula for good behavior in the lunch room.
~We had a field trip to Denver Downs to visit the pumpkin patch.
~We used pop rocks to learn about using adjectives in our writing. This is a multiple day project and will go into next week. On Monday I showed the students a gift bag full of tissue paper and explained that inside was a present for them, but first we have to desctibe the bag. Wednesday we finally got to find out what was in the bag: Pop Rocks! We tried our pop rocks and came up with adjectives to describe how they looked, smelled, and tasted. Next week we will continue this writing by writing about our experience trying the pop rocks and we will hang these in the hallway to show off our hard work.
~We began learning abut synonyms and played a matching game.
~We learned a new sight word game called "Bang". (Sight words are written on popsicle sticks and placed in a box. Some sticks are blank. You pull 1 stick at a time and if you can read the word you get to keep the stick, if not it goes back in the box. If you pull a blank stick that is "bang" and you have to put all your sticks back in the box.)
~We learned a new math game called Scoot where we have a recording sheet and question cards. We sit around the carpet and record the answer to our first question, then we scoot to the next question. We repeat this until we have answered all the question cards.
~This week was also Red Ribbon Week. We tied ribbons to the fence during recess to make our promise to be drug free.
We could also use some more class snacks. Some snacks that we like are: Cheerios, bags of cereal, crackers, chips, animal crackers, and anything else that is peanut free!
