This week we have been working on breaking apart and building numbers. These are very important skills that we will be focusing on for the next several weeks.
This week we were introduced to several of our number games and started using some of our life-size math to help us see the bigger picture of our numbers. :)

We use a giant tens frame to help us see what our numbers look like so we can visualize it in our head. We also flip over the plates to see how many combinations of numbers we can make. This example shows 1 red and 4 white which we record as 1+4=5.
We also played several partner games such as "Shake and Spill" and "Cup Line Up". This gave students a chance to explore making numbers, as well as be both the teacher and the student.
