Last Friday we wrapped up our study on communities with a trip to the Fire Department and City Hall. We met the Mayor and got a tour of the fire department. Before we left they were kind enough to let us take a picture on one of the fire trucks.
This week we have still been learning about making numbers. We have started making number bonds.
Below is a youtube video that will help explain what number bonds are:
We have also been learing about the /ck/ sounds. We worked with a partner (or in some cases small groups) to play "Sock Em". For this game each set of children were given a bag with pictures of cats. Each cat had a word on its tummy. If you can read the word and it has the /ck/ blend you get to keep it. If you get a word without the /ck/ that's when you get "socked" and have to put all your cards back in the bag. They player with the most cards at the end is the winner.
