This week we used our whole class reading time to build our reading skills and we started working more with our comprehension friends:
~Rocky Raccoon (visualize)
~Spinner the Spider (making connections)
~Jabber the Reteller (summarize and retell)
~Digger the Dog (dig for facts and information)
~Questioning Owl
(the image I am using came from http://thekindergardenteacher.blogspot.com/2013/07/beany-baby-reading-comprehension-posters.html, our posters look a little different but the strategies are the same).

In math we worked with place value. We focused on the tens and the ones place and used our place value skills to help us count by 10's. We also used a 120 chart to help with that skill. Our reading skill this week was inferring. We used this as a time to have a special show and tell. The kids did a great job of bringing in items with 3 clues and making us try to guess what they brought. |
